neon matte spring [review]

i’m back guys. not for long, but i’m back for now 🙂

i’ve been m.i.a. lately, and kind of left the nails behind, but that doesn’t mean that my inspiration has left me hanging.

you know i’m all about colors (#allcolorseverything), so this post/nail art is really dear to my colorful heart ❤

black&white nails with a neon matte twist

so as i said, i am a sucker for colors, and i am a sucker for rhinestones, but when you get them both combined..well, nailgasm much?

i applied a white base color, but i wanted a bit of a twist, therefore the painter inside me did an abstract black spot on them nails. i applied the rhinestones without any nail glue, so they got stuck in the black polish (and stayed on there for like 1 week and a few days, #yeaymuch). i also applied top coat after i did the photos, therefore the matte effect got ruined, but hey the rhinestones stayed on for quite some time 🙂

and guess what, if you want to use the Round Square Fluorescent Dark Colors Stud Rhinestones Nail Art Decoration also, you can get them from BornPrettyStore, for only 2,99$/box, and you’ll get 12 different shapes (square and round) and colors.

You can also use the coupon code  ML5X31 at checkout, to get a 10% discount on your order. BornPrettyStore also offers free shipping worldwide.

i’ll be back soon enough, as i have quite the stash on nail art sets ready for you to see.

have a colorful spring,

toodeloo,

nail swag collaboration, dervish dancers inspired

a few months ago (yeah, waaaaay back when i was one year younger, and yeahhh i know i haven’t posted in a while now) i created a set of nails for a Dervish Dancers inspired shooting. Adriana Unguras (my favorite make-up artist) came to me with this great idea, and why the hell should i have said no?

so these are the nails:

IMG_0931

i tried to incorporate the details of the dervish dancers skirts when they are engaged in turns, it’s like watching them from above, mixing red tones with gold (because i am obsessed with golden everything and because red and gold fit like a glove), adding a little sparkle with my best friends the rhinestones, all in all coming up with a funky and interesting twist to the dervish dancers.

here are some details of the model:

and here is the full spread. in the end the nails weren’t that visible, but it was our first shoot, and we learn from our mistakes?!? but hey, i am happy with what i came up with and all of these beautiful photos (props to our always hyper photographer Radu ;))

here, here little pixie

i have to admit, i kind of left this nail art thing aside for the last months, but that doesn’t mean i am not obsessed with nail polish anymore. I have bought a lot of nail polish bottles over the last three months, but my inspiration has left the flow-building to a warmer place (i assume).

a few months back i bought my first three Zoya Pixie Dust nail polish bottles (Vespa, Godiva& Dahlia). and let me tell you, it was love at first sight. ever since, when i want to do a quick mani, i use the magical pixie dust.

the next photos are a Vespa& Godiva gradient (because i was in my gradient phase when i did these, doughhh).

these are perfect for a future bride to be, classy and simple, but with a funky twist.

the nail polish is simply awesome, let each coat dry in between for a full sandy coverage. after a few days you can also put on a coat of top coat and they will completely change and you will have a new manicure design just like that.

the photo prop is a awesome Josephine headpiece, from the 2013 Mariage Collection. take a look at Josephine’s lovely work on her web-site or go straight to her online boutique for some bling shopping 🙂

cheerios,

graffiti fun day [review]

today’s post is a 3in1 review.

i really wasn’t inspired into creating this, but i went full on, managing to find my inspiration later on in the day.

let me start off with the base color of the manicure. i am all about colors, i am all about neon, but when that colorful neon nail polish also glows in the dark, well…it is to die for.  This Candy Color Fluorescent Neon Luminous Nail Art Polish is a lime neon polish (color no. 3), i used three coats, to fully reach a compact color. it turned out amazing, but i waited very long for it to completely dry.

photo (18)

here is BK fluorescent nail polish glowing in the dark.

WP_001361

i had difficulties photographing these nail in the dark, but managed somehow (i don’t even know how) to take this one picture (only one) to show you how they glow. just ah-mazing!! you could really scare someone in the dark with these… the nail phantom. buhuhuhuuuu! 🙂

here is the final result, after i used the Glitter Transfer Nail Roll Foils, and the Shake-me Pump & Use Nail Art Pen:

Lomogram_2013-08-11_10-50-56-PM

after i did these funky/graphic/ colorful/ arty nails i went out for a walk with my sis and niece and found a graffiti wall in the park, which had the exact same color combo painted on it, and then i was like, heeeey they stole my look, but it was the perfect location for this photo shoot 🙂

The glitter transfer nail roll foils were easy to apply, as soon as i figured out how to apply them. the last coat should be dried, but not completely dried, and it depends i guess from nail polish to nail polish, as i managed to apply them more easily over the Essie base coat, in comparison to the BK nail polish. But up to the last nail, the transfer was smooth. Use a top coat over the transfer foil, as i have tried a nail without top coat, and by the next day the foil was vanished.

As for the Shake-me Pump& Use nail art pen, i am confused. It worked just fine at the beginning, for the pinky on the left hand, but then i couldn’t do anything anymore. It just ruined the design on other nails. I shaked it, pumped it, and tried to use it, but it didn’t work. the nail polish was not dripping. and when it eventually came running out, it came out as a thick layer of polish. maybe i needed to shake it more? but i did shake it a lot..so this is why i am confused, the idea of the product is amazing, but in reality it’s not quite what it should be.

And if you want to have one of these products, you can get them from BornPrettyStore:

gradient-y summer

oh boy, what a lazy nail art summer i have had. with all the work i had to do, there was no more time left for me and my nail art. and even when i got some time, guess what.. no inspiration. so i went back to my good ol’ friend, the OMBRE. oh yeahhh.

i did the ombre (haha moment, didn’t mean it at all this way) a lot over this past months, cause it’s fast and exciting, every single time (i went with it all the way, but don’t mind my crazy thoughts).

my favorite one is this white number:

combo

it sort of has this sleek, classy look to it. i would redo this mani for my wedding day.

a little bit more daring, this hot pink number i wouldn’t wear so often, as i have noticed pink on my fingers looks kind of awkward.

Untitled-1

but with the orchid i found, they kind of made the cut for me 🙂

i’m a green person. all green on i say, this is my life motto :)) therefore this is my second favorite number:

Untitled-1

oh dear color green, i love you so much.

last but not least, a dark blue number:

combo

i never in a gazillion years thought these would turn out this way. technique wise, i think these came out the best.

which one do you think came out the best? what other ombre’s should i do?

black square stud rhinestones

here i am again with a post i promised a long time ago.

i am a sucker for rhinestones on them nails, so i was really excited using these lovelies from Born Pretty Store. you can check out my review on the fimo fruit decals here!

photo (59)

i wanted to go all out with these stud rhinestones, and i think i just created a perfect rock star mani! 🙂

(photo prop. Josephine necklace)

the base of the manicure is a brown ombre. i applied a golden foil right before the base coat dried. the studs were really easy to apply, with the help of the ever helpful nail tip glue. you will have no problem of them falling off for 5-7 days.

you can try to apply top coat over the studs for an even better stay on the nails, but i didn’t use any for this manicure.

you can also get your own black stud rhinestones on bornprettystore at 5.84$/bag, in the Nail Art Decorations category, or this link below:

fruity fingers: fimo fruits review!

(spoiler alert: this post is gonna be extra colorful and tasty)

i have been wanting to use fimo sticks in my nail art for a long time. you can find all sorts of fimo stick designs, from flowers, to animals, or different logos, but in my opinion the fruit fimo sticks are the most delicious ones. I received this pack of fruit fimo decals from BornPretty Store, and had lots of fun trying it out.

photo (59)

The package comes with a wheel, which is great cause it is easy to use and carry around with you.

With 12 different fruits dangles, 10 pcs each, you have a lot of pieces to have fun with, apply on the nails, but also decorate furniture, phone& mp3 cases, glasses, or use for body art.

I decided to do a fun, colorful and tasty manicure with these fruit dangles:

throwback tuesday

i was surfing through my nail art photo folder recently, and got reminded of some great designs i did before creating this blog.

throwback tuesday will be exactly that!

lazy me, tried to do something similar at the very beginning of flowynails on wordpress, in order to sort my nail art designs and show em all to you, but there are so many, and sooooo many nice photos that i felt the need to do something more with them.

that being said, the next nails i created especially for a dear project of mine, Banat Mountain Bike Maraton, a mountain bike contest organized yearly by Bike Attack NGO. we’ve been organizing this event for 8 years now and it has already become a tradition in the bikers community in romania. needless to say  i am very proud to be a part of it. but this year i wasn’t only in charge of participants registration, but i also had the job of showing off my nails, inspired by nature, biking and my fellow members at the NGO.

i can not wait to see what i come up with this year. i’ll keep you posted of course 🙂

ride your bike, it’s a healthy sport!

watercolor fabric print

i am surrounded by gazillions of meters of fabric daily, printed fabric mostly. i usually don’t have time to do my nails when i see a great print and feel inspired, but the best thing happened to me a few days ago. i made myself a dress, which looks something like this:

WP_000241 WP_000243

and it got me inspired into creating watercolor nails in this great color combo: blue/yellow/green/white/black.

??????????????????????????????? IMG_0919

i think i found myself a new obsession. this and sponging. i just love how artsy and abstract they look.

maybe i’ll do a new thing on flowynails.. fabric friday! creating all sorts of nail art designs inspired by prints i stumble upon at work. this would be a challenge.

for tomorrow, i have already planned a post for you: throwback tuesday! just wait and see 🙂

toddles,

f.
