china glaze ‘colors from the capitol’ collection

i got this collection one month ago, even if it launched in march in the us. getting a china glaze nail polish in romania is quite difficult. the price is twice as high and sometimes you don’t have the opportunity to choose a color. you just get what there is!

this didn’t work for me, so all china glaze nail polishes i own, i bought them from the us, online.

i absolutely enjoyed this twelve piece collection. it’s very ‘earthy’ and natural, duuhhhh it’s inspired by all the districts and their key component. i really needed a break from all the neon nail polishes, all of the bright and bold colors, all of the summer collections.

china glaze “electrify” & “mahogany magic

‘mahogany magic’ is a lovely brown polish, with a great formula. after two coats it was completely opaque, giving me this district 7 lumber feeling. one coat of ‘electrify’ looked quite interesting over ‘mahogany magic’ [see middle finger]. ‘electrify’ (district 5) is a clear polish with red and golden glitter. you can see the difference between the ring finger and the middle finger (with and without base color). this is again a good glitter polish china glaze has made

china glaze “dress me up” & “foie gras

i have big issues giving ‘dress me up’ a color combo. it is a mix between the brown clay color, a dusty pink and a dark salmon pink (correct me if i am wrong!) créme. it works perfectly with one coat only, but for a more intense district 8 color i suggest applying two. ‘foie gras’ (district 10) on the other hand is a brown purple-y créme. the formula on these two, even if it is thicker than the other polishes in this collection, worked fine for me. maybe cause i am a fan of créme polishes.

china glaze “hook and line” & “stone cold

’hook and line’ has a really nice grey tone with silver threads in it. the only problem is the formula. if you are not really careful with applying it, it may look messy as a result. it’s sort’a leaky/thick and you need 2 or 3 coats for having a opaque district 4 look. [tip: apply one coat at a time and let it completely dry before applying another one]. on the other hand ‘stone cold’ may be my favorite from this collection. it’s a really dark grey with silver shimmer in it. and it’s MATTE. yeeey me. two coats are just enough to have the masonry district 2 look.

china glaze “agro” & “smoke and ashes

agro’ is a khaki with green, golden and subtle orange shimmer. great formula with a good consistency. just two coats and you’ll have a perfect district 11 manicure. ‘smoke and ashes’ which, duuuh, stands for the mining in district 12, is a really dark greenlack (mixture between green and black) with turquoise and green shimmer. after one coat it was completely opaque (i think CG changed their formula on the shimmer polishes).

china glaze “riveting”  & “harvest moon

riveting’ (district 3)is a orange and gold shimmer polish. it has a great formula, becoming opaque just after one coat. the same with ‘harvest moon’ (district 9), a bronze/cooper with lighter bronze shimmer. for a more intense look, like the picture above, i used two coats on both.

china glaze “fast track

‘fast track’ is a beige tone with golden shimmer in it. it has a great formula, looking great on the nail only with one coat. in the pictures above i’ve used two coats, and for the nail art some hexagonal glitter and splatter glitter.

china glaze “luxe and lush” over “foie gras” & “dress me up

luxe and lush’ stands for the luxury district 1 has enough of. it is sort’a top coat with multicolored flakes in different sizes and forms. it looks like a christmas glass bauble exploded on your nails. but it needs a good amount of top coat on top, unless you wanna hook on to every clothing you have.

all in all, ‘colors from the capitol’ is a great collection, with unique shades and improved formulas. if you want either a matte nail polish, shimmer or a créme nail polish, this collection has it all!

i have also prepared a lil’ nail art ‘colors from the capitol’ collection, so check back later to see some mixes and matches!

keep you posted,

f.
